inhabitants. Overlooking the Petit Morin valley, from a formerly fortified promontory, the town is coiled around its 16th century castle.<\/p>\n<p>Inhabited long before the Gallic period, the city preserves the imprints of different eras; the Historical Circuit will make you discover them. The castle of Montmirail was bought in 1678 by Louvois, minister of Louis XIV, who had it restored in 1682.
